This is, without a doubt, my favorite zombie genre series of books. I can't say enough good things about the Zombie Killers series. The whole zombie genre is largely all the same, and honestly... getting kind of boring. John F. Holmes' series is different enough that it pulls you in.The characters are unique, the situation that the world is in is largely different from a lot of zombie books, and the zombies themselves aren't the classic monsters.
This would be an amazing movie, or television series.
BTW, a lot of authors start off with a good concept but then blow it by getting the military and gun stuff all wrong. That's not the case with this series. Gun buffs and ex military people will appreciate that (would you want to read a book about racing and find all of the automobile stuff is wrong?).

This is a good tale of life after a zombie apocalypse, and how people will always want to have more power than they are capable of handling. SGM Agostine tries to deal with life as a survivor of many wars and reintegration into "civilian" life. The ending is unexpected but plausible and ties the previous stories together nicely.
I am still trying to figure out what the subtext to the story is, but maybe I am looking to much into a good stand alone story

I've read all of the series and it just keeps getting better. Not you happy go lucky superman crap, intense gut wrenching violence where good guys have risk and consequences.
I look forward to where all this leads, within this series and others.
John Holmes just keeps getting better at his craft!
This was a like a nice visit from old friends that I had kind of missed.
I have liked these characters from the gitgo from reading the earlier books. I like the Irregular Scout Team concept and the fact that for once - we're giving the zombies a fight of it.
This book goes to new places and I certainly enjoyed reading it. Then the ending fell on me like a ton of bricks.
Since I volunteered on Facebook to have my name used in the book I can't be unbiased. It fracking rules to be in a book.
I have really enjoyed every book in the series. I bought them all. I enjoy the story and the style.
Many people will complain about editing issues but, I don't see why people complain so much. This is independent not Random House or some other giant publishing company. This is a dude and a computer. This is a Veteran telling a war story. It is pretty sweet.
John Holmes has mastered that most important of writers skills, that of creating believable and likable characters in harrowing situations. His personal history of military service translates well into the stories he tells, giving them a rich sense of authenticity despite the fact he's writing about a zombie apocalypse.
I love his approach to zombie books. Do yourself a favor and find Homes' first three here on Irregular Scout Team One The Complete Zombie Killer series.
I am a retired Army Veteran as is the author but I like to think I am unbiased but in the case not so much. I have read everything this fellow soldier has written and since I no longer have a "recommended professional reading list" to go thru this type of fiction is basically all I curently read. His attention to detail on actions taken and the way a soldier/warrior thinks is one of the reason I am hooked on his books.
Top five things gotten wrong in apocalypse coperation, gas, food,, well John went further and is dead on what people don't get about our modern society and enviroment. We Groom it. We groom or Zombie killers too, our hero's and heroin's, and in that process there are often distortions, like Headshot Mama, Samari Sam and his samari sword, Shifty and his sawed shotgun. and so on. Well you get something different in Zombie Killers, military personel, and a few civilians. The characters are interesting, and you want to find out what happens next. to the point you want to get the next novel. Get the following in this order if you want the full series to date. Irregular Scout Team One - The Complete Zombie Killers, Zombie Killers Civil War, and Zombie Killers Endgame, the first book is the first three stories.
